Phases of Development

The Shelton-Badgett North Carolina Center for Viticulture and Enology is being developed in two phases. Phase I is complete and houses a state-of-the-art commercially bonded winery. This is a teaching winery and include innovative crushing, fermentation and barrel storage areas where students bottle, label and learn to market the wine produced.

Phase I also includes classrooms, instructors' offices, a resource library, a climate-controlled wine cellar, microbiology labs and a 3,800 square foot Assembly Hall for college and community functions, shows, and special events.

Phase II is currently under the design phase, and will add an auditorium and science building. The auditorium is projected to be 40,000 square feet and will host conventions and conferences for the wine industry and related agri-tourism events for North Carolina, the east coast, and the nation. The science building will include labs, offices and science classrooms.
